OUSD is committed to strengthening our community by supporting students, parents, and families through meaningful partnerships and access to local resources. We strive to connect families with community-based services that promote social-emotional, cognitive, language and literacy, and physical well-being.

We believe that strong partnerships between families and schools are essential for creating a harmonious learning environment. When families feel connected, supported, and valued as part of their child’s educational team, they are more engaged in their child’s growth and development.

Triple P Parenting

💙 PARENTING SUPPORT FOR EVERY STAGE! 👨👩👧👦

Parenting comes with plenty of joys, challenges, and questions along the way. Whether you're looking for ways to encourage positive behavior, support your child's unique needs, or strengthen your family relationships, Triple P Positive Parenting Program has some great opportunities coming up in November!

Family & Childcare Resources of N.E.W. is offering several parenting workshops designed to provide families with practical tools, helpful strategies, and support.

📅 UPCOMING NOVEMBER SESSIONS:

🔹 November 5 | 10:00–11:30 a.m.
Cooperating with Instructions Learn strategies to encourage cooperation, establish limits, and respond to challenging behaviors. Sessions are available in English and Spanish.

🔹 November 9, 16 & 23 | 5:30–7:00 p.m.
Supporting Children with Varying Abilities A three-part series focused on positive parenting, helping children reach their potential, and turning challenging behaviors into positive ones.

🔹 November 10, 11 & 12 | 4:30–6:00 p.m.
Positive Parenting Class Learn practical strategies to build strong relationships, manage behavior confidently, and prevent problems before they arise.

🔹 November 17 | 5:30–7:00 p.m.
Supporting Children with ADHD Workshop Explore what ADHD is, how it affects children, where to find support, and how to create a supportive family environment.

✨ Why attend? Every child is different, and every family faces unique challenges. These sessions give parents and caregivers a chance to learn new approaches, build confidence, and connect with helpful resources.

Homeless Student Information

McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act 

Parents/Guardians who become homeless have the right to keep their child/children in the school where the child/children attended when permanently housed or recently enrolled. Parents/Guardians also have the right to enroll their child/children in any school that non-homeless students who live in the attendance area in which they are living attend. Guidelines to consider in making a school placement decision in the best interest of the child include:

  • Keeping the same instruction
  • Quality of instruction
  • A student’s need for a specific program or services offered
  • Age of child/children
  • School placement of family members
  • Length of anticipated homelessness
  • Likely area of the family’s future housing
  • Safety of the child
